"I Declare" Prayer
This post is a part of my "Various ways to pray series"
This type of prayer is intentionally breaking ungodly patterns in your life.
Identify the lies that are presently showing up as beliefs, emotional patterns. Ex: I’m a failure, I’m anxious, I struggle with procrastination/ confusion.
Make declaring statements. Statements that oppose the old lies you were in agreement with. Statements that speak to The Most High Gods Truth and not the enemies lies. You can write these statements down if you'd like and make a plan to read these during your prayer time for a period of time (40days) to build a new pattern of belief. Ex: Instead of allowing your mind to believe “I’m a failure” You will choose to say: As 1 Peter 2:9 states “I Declare, I am a chosen people. I Declare I am Gods’ special possession. I Declare it is HE who called me out of darkness into his wonderful light.
You can find Scriptures that speak the opposite of the limiting identity you are trying to heal, or scripture that speaks to how to heal the suffering you are currently experiencing. Use the scriptures to help you write more “I Declare” Statements.
Use the “I declare” Statements to speak Blessings over your life. Identify the blessings you believe are in store for you and write them into “I Declare” Statements.
A few examples of some “I declare” statements to get you started:
I declare every cycle of suffering, pain and oppression that has enslaved my family is now interrupted by the power of Gods Love
I declare any evil that has polluted my lineage is purified, sanctified and realigned with the covenant of God.
I declare my birthright has been restored and I am now becoming the fullness of who I was designed to be
I declare I am a cage breaker, an exposer of lies, a freedom fighter and one who frees the enslaved.
I declare my mind, will and emotions reflect that power, love and brilliance of God
***Remember try to write some down to get you started. Anywhere from 5 -10 Statements is great! And try to say the same over a longer period of time. Say them during your designated prayer time and soon enough you will have the memorized. Once they are memorized you should also begin saying them throughout your day (like when driving - or when in stressful situations where you would normally fall back into old patterns of thinking - replace the habitual thoughts with the I declare prayers.
Also try to say them with great passion, power and strength. I sometimes like to do a walking prayer while I say mine. Walking with a warrior position. Using hand gestures, activating voice, movement, even using the drum or other instruments.
